These have always brought me luck ...

Good luck to whomever is playing in the Super Bowl! I hope your team wins. And I hope the commercials are enjoyable for those of you who don't care. That includes me, I'm only watching at my friends' house for the commercials and the sports snacks.

Here you can enjoy one of my all-time favorite commercials, featuring the greatest use of the soft-focus lens since Lucille Ball's Mame!

Are you old enough to remember the Blackglama series of advertisements, "What becomes a Legend most?" For the ads, Richard Avedon and Bill King photographed almost 40 mink-clad gay icons. The ads were reprinted in book form in 1979.

I saw a woman in a Blackglama mink at the Detroit Artists Market Design Show opening two weeks ago and the very next day found myself on their website looking at that ad campaign!

Check it out yourself! Go to Blackglama.com, click on the "Campaign" link and then "Legends" underneath that! All the diva legends are there, and Ray Charles to boot.

I have a weak spot for 70s and 80s perfume ads. This one is so gorgeously insane. You can barely *see* Miss Taylor through the vaseline/gauze/mist whatever they used for her soft focus!
